ABA Medical Biller
Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized ABA Medical Biller to join Triangle ABA's fast growing team. In this entry-level role, you will play a crucial part in ensuring accurate and timely reimbursement for autism spectrum disorder (ASD) treatment services. Salary Range: $40,000 - $55,000 annually (commensurate with experience)

Key Responsibilities
- Verify patient insurance eligibility and benefits for ABA therapy services using online portals and phone inquiries.
- Review and code therapy sessions accurately using ICD-10 diagnosis codes and CPT billing codes specific to behavioral health.
- Prepare and submit electronic claims to insurance payers, including Medicaid, private insurers, and managed care organizations.
- Monitor claim status, follow up on denials or rejections, and appeal when necessary to maximize reimbursements.
- Process payments, adjustments, and refunds; reconcile accounts receivable to ensure financial accuracy.
- Maintain compliance with HIPAA regulations, ABA billing guidelines, and payer-specific policies.
- Collaborate with clinical staff to resolve documentation issues and support accurate charge capture.
- Generate reports on billing metrics, such as aging accounts and denial trends, to assist in process improvements.
- Assist with patient inquiries regarding billing statements and insurance coverage.
Qualifications
Required:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Basic understanding of medical terminology, insurance concepts, or billing processes (entry-level candidates with enthusiasm for learning are encouraged to apply).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word) and familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) or billing software (e.g., CentralReach, Passage Health).
- Strong attention to detail and ability to handle repetitive tasks with accuracy.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, for interacting with insurers and team members.
Preferred:
- Completion of a medical billing certificate program (e.g., 8-12 week online course) or certification such as Certified Professional Biller (CPB) or Certified Medical Reimbursement Specialist (CMRS).
- Prior experience in healthcare administration, customer service, or data entry.
- Knowledge of ABA-specific billing rules, including Early and Periodic Screening, Diagnostic, and Treatment (EPSDT) services for Medicaid.
